A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

How it all began...

Yoga has been such a gift to me, seeming to come to me at some of the most significant points in my life and often the most transformational. From the playfulness of my first experience with yoga at 18yrs young, to dabbling with yoga in my 20's, but actually finding it a bit boring as I wanted to "work hard and fast", so running became my thing.

In my 30's I was drawn back to yoga at a signficant time in my life my then husband tragically died by suicide after a long battle with depression. Darkness and pain engulfed me and it was all about survival for several years, dealing with life after the loss of my husband and becoming a mother for the first time. But I gathered strength from the love around me and from within. I found sanctuary and release through my body and movement - by running and practising yoga, so much of my grief shifted, softened, and I began to let go. It also took many years of therapy, and hours of journal writing, but over time I began to heal and grew stronger.

Stepping into my strength

In time I fell in love again, and ended up travelling with my little family in Central America for 6mths, where I found myself with the time and desire to embrace yoga fully into my life. Practising every day for just 30mins a day for one whole month (you know those 30-day challenges!) was enough to get me hooked. I travelled to the magical island of Ibiza, to attend the 200hr Yoga Teacher Training course with Suzanne Faith Yoga to deepen my practice and learn how to share the gift of yoga through teaching. Since then, I haven't looked back and have dived deeper into more teachings and trainings, with a particular passion for yoga for women.

The power of yoga

My mission is to guide women to connect and nourish themselves through movement, breath, and meditative practices. I truly believe in the power of yoga to offer freedom, strength, empowerment, resilience, connection and ultimately love to yourself. These are the gifts of yoga, and the gifts I love to share with others through my teaching.

Coming into the present

The things that keep me happy, present and grounded are my husband Jon and our energetically little monkey-boy Ivor. We all love exporing the countryside and seaside of Sussex near to Brighton where we live. I still enjoy a bit of running (but not the crazy amount I used to do), I LOVE dancing, and I love hanging out with family and friends over  a good meal. These are all the precious things in my life that bring me peace and a sense of gratitude every day.

Much love to you on your path, wherever it may take you.

Namaste x

TESTIMONIALS

"In Gabrielle’s Restorative Yoga Class on a Thursday evening I have found a sanctuary where I can finally find space to breath, unwind and deeply relax.

Gabrielle has a gentle approach in both the atmosphere she creates with not only music / tone of voice but also the way that she guides and reassures the members in her class."
